Exist, 2013

acrylic, vinyl, LED, aluminum, ink, dust, 8 x 13 x .5 in
site-specific installation for the exhibition Superposition: Observing Realities at the Trinity Church, NYC, 2013

Exist is a modified EXIT sign placed at the main entrance of the church. It was installed in a way that patrons only see it after turning around, typically on their way out. The work takes on additional meanings in the context of a church and in its relationship to the exit. My hope was to have viewers think further about the relationship of existence, what it means as they exit the church and enter into the rest of their day-to-day activities.
