The Deep Empty, 2014

Pages from National Geographic Magazine, dimensions vary
An installation created for the exhibition Distant Images, Local Positions at EFA Project Space, NYC, 2014

A grotto-like installation made from pages of National Geographic Magazine is composed solely of the photographically rendered landscapes that adorn the periodical. Pages are physically molded into sculptural stalagmites and stalactites. I am interested in geological growths such as boulders, stalactites and collapsed trees due to their closeness in human scale and they make one aware of the massive amounts of time that has passed.
